BMW introduces smart sunglasses
BMW has introduced smart sunglasses for its motorcyclists. This should not only provide displays for navigation, but also the current speed. In addition, the glasses indicate any speed limit. Even the selected gear is displayed directly. The glasses connected to the motorcycle in this way should give an extra comfort and more safety. The functions are projected into the glass by means of a head-up display. Averting the gaze to the instruments thus becomes obsolete.
The glasses are connected via Bluetooth using the BMW Connected app. Additional configurations such as the positions of the displays or the settings can be made directly via the multicontroller on the handlebar.
The Smartglasses are available in two sizes with different nose pads. In addition, UVA and UVB lenses are included in each case. There is also a variant with transparent lenses for helmets with integrated sun visor.
Spectacle wearers can also use the glasses. Per RX adapter, the visual acuity can be individually adjusted.
The lithium-ion battery offers an operating time of up to ten hours and can be recharged via the included USB charging cable.
The BMW Motorrad Connectedride Smartglasses cost 690 euros. It is not yet known when the glasses will be released.
